Jewellery Laser Fibre

Using Jewellery Laser Fibre

In the recent years, jewellery chain manufacturers are switching to fibre lasers integrated with automatic chain making machines to produce chains as small as 0.2mm wire size. These chains are manufactured in gold wire ranging from 8K to 14K and in all types of length.

Once the gold wires are fed into the jewellery chain making machine, the machine twist and forms links to create a chain. The chain is then simultaneously welded by a fibre laser as it is produced. Fibre lasers are becoming very popular in chain production because it reduces the time taken to make a complete chain. Gold Technic has our own manufacturing facility in Singapore to process and produce Jewellery Laser Fibre. We can assemble and produce new laser fibres as well as repair damaged laser fibres.

The common Jewellery laser fibre sizes used in manufacturing range from 200 micron to 600 micron. 600 micron fibres are the most common type of Jewellery laser fibre. It is an ideal size to work with and very popular among fibre laser users.

Traditional chain Manufacturing

Jewellery laser welding  is different from the traditional chain making method where the raw manufactured chain is then fed into a furnace chamber and annealed to solder the open links. In the traditional method, much skill is involved in applying the soldering powder, controlling the temperature of the furnace to ensure that the chain do not over melt. The temperature control is also important as overheated chain can turn black and it is difficult to reverse or remove the stain. This affects the aesthetic outlook of the Jewellery chain.

Whereas in the case of Jewellery laser fibre, the chain is not stained because the welding mark is almost unseen by the naked eye. The welding spot is also very accurate and there is very low possibility that the fibre laser can miss a spot.

Mitsubishi Diaguide ® Laser Welding Optical Fiber

Gold Technic supplies a wide array of laser consumables, ranging from laser lamps, laser fiber assemblies (Mitsubishi Diaguide ® Optical Fibers), optics and laser rods. Gold Technic also ensures that each product is of top quality. Furthermore, the company also provides top-of-the-line service to keep your laser machine in perfect order.

Gold Technic’s top selling products are Japanese laser fibers. Larger Core Laser fibers are commonly used in laser welding machines for transmission of laser power. Applications include jewellery chain welding (such as in Laservall and Sisma machines), as well as in electronics and engineering (Miyachi, Mitsubishi, Rofin Laser, Hans Laser and many others).

Mitsubishi Diaguide ® ST600F

Mitsubishi Diaguide Fiber

Gold Technic is the preferred  supplier of the Mitsubishi Diaguide ® Optical Fibers. The ST600F has silica fibers that feature a high-purity core rating. It features high light transmission efficiency. It is suitable for a wide range of applications such as cutting and engraving as well as plating. The Mitsubishi Diaguide® optical fibers are available in many different sizes:

  • ST200E – 200 Micron fiber core (200um)
  • ST300E – 300 Micron fiber core (300um)
  • ST400E – 400 Micron fiber core (400um)
  • ST600F – 600 Micron fiber core (600um)
  • ST800G – 800 Micron fiber core (800um)
  • ST1000H – 1000 Micron fiber core (1000um)

Common lengths of the optical fibers which we supply are 3 meters (3m), 5 meters (5m), 10 meters (10m) and 15 meters (15m). Custom lengths are possible which go up to 50+meters.

Why the different lengths? Different applications for different customers – Some customers require the laser welding site to be clean and clutter free. They will opt for a long laser fiber assembly (typically >50m) so the laser machines can be situated in another room. If space is not a concern, the laser machines can be situated right beside the welding head. In this case, a short 3 meters (3m) laser fiber assembly is sufficient.

Value added service – As a value added service to our customers, Gold Technic Laser provides laser fiber repair service for damaged fibers. Do contact us if you have problems regarding your Mitsubishi Diaguide® laser fibers. Remember : No customer is too big or too small for us, we provide the same Quality, Economical Laser Fiber Repair Service for all our valued customers.
