Laser fiber connectors can be replaced in cases where connector can be broke or disconnected due to workplace accidents. In many cases, D80 connectors break off together with part of the laser fiber. When this happens, the fiber cannot be used. The laser machine has to be switched off immediately and laser fiber to be disconnected from the machine. Please be careful not to touch the fiber ends as the sharp glass fiber may cut your fingers. Do not point the broken fiber directly at your eyes. After handling the broken fiber, please wash your hands immediately as their might be tiny glass bits that might injure you.

When packing the damaged fiber, please conceal both ends with protection cap or end cap to prevent the handler from getting cut by the broken fiber. When received at our repair facility, we will inspect the fiber and check if there is any internal breakage in the fiber. We will also inspect both the D80 connector ends.

Most times, the D80 connector has to be replaced because it might have burnt out or the connector is broken. In the picture above, we will cut away the old connector and replace with a new D80 connector. This will be included in the basic fiber repair package. We will provide our customer with a primarily check report together with cost estimates of repairing the fiber.

Mitsubishi Diaguide Fiber

Gold Technic is the preferred  supplier of the Mitsubishi Diaguide ® Optical Fibers. The ST600F has silica fibers that feature a high-purity core rating. It features high light transmission efficiency. It is suitable for a wide range of applications such as cutting and engraving as well as plating. The Mitsubishi Diaguide® optical fibers are available in many different sizes:

  • ST200E – 200 Micron fiber core (200um)
  • ST300E – 300 Micron fiber core (300um)
  • ST400E – 400 Micron fiber core (400um)
  • ST600F – 600 Micron fiber core (600um)
  • ST800G – 800 Micron fiber core (800um)
  • ST1000H – 1000 Micron fiber core (1000um)

Common lengths of the optical fibers which we supply are 3 meters (3m), 5 meters (5m), 10 meters (10m) and 15 meters (15m). Custom lengths are possible which go up to 50+meters.

Why the different lengths? Different applications for different customers – Some customers require the laser welding site to be clean and clutter free. They will opt for a long laser fiber assembly (typically >50m) so the laser machines can be situated in another room. If space is not a concern, the laser machines can be situated right beside the welding head. In this case, a short 3 meters (3m) laser fiber assembly is sufficient.
