We receive damage ST600F laser fiber in all types of condition. The above laser delivery fiber is a 600 micron laser fiber (ST600) from a high-power Nd:YAG welding machine. A contaminated laser delivery fiber can cause the connectors to heat up and eventually burn out.
If not replaced in time, it may also affect the focusing head as the fumes from the burn out may also contaminate the lenses inside the focusing head. Therefore it is important to remove and replace the damage laser delivery fiber once it is identified.
Stages of Assessment ST600F Laser fiber
At the assessment stage, we can see that the 600 micron laser fiber (ST600F) is contaminated with grease and dirt on the edge of the connector and the surface of the fiber core. There is also a laser burn mark at the edge of the connector and a damaged blurred laser core. There is a lot of contaminants on the sapphire connector surface. We will also check for any visible breakage alongside the laser fiber and make indications before we send the fiber to the servicing department for repair.
At the servicing stage, we terminate the fiber and repolish to restore its original surface. Terminated fiber ends are highly polished for low insertion loss. Aside from reflection losses at each end of the laser delivery fiber, a 3-meter length of cable can transmit 99 % of the laser beam power.
The connector will also be repaired and damaged parts replaced. Gold Technic uses industry standard D-80LKA connectors for quick and easy coupling and decoupling from the focusing heads and laser machine.
After repair the raw fibers are inserted back into a multi-layer protective sheathing
surrounded by a reinforced monocoil jacket that provides both flexibility and tensile support.
Before delivery, we will ensure that all laser fiber are tested and in working order.
