Proper Laser optical fiber alignment for your laser machine ensures optimum performance. It is important not to bend the fiber beyond the minimum bending radius and keep the focusing head clean, free from oil and dirt. Poor fiber handling can cause damage to the laser fiber and the fiber head to burn out. So it is important that the technicians are well informed about the laser operations before operating the machines.

Best working practice is to route the fiber above ground, not touching the floor between the laser and workstation to avoid the possibility of crushing the fiber, then coil and hang excess fiber length at the workstation. Coiling the fiber above ground can also avoid accidental tripping and prevents dirt getting trapped on the outer fiber sheathing.
If the laser focus head will be moving, give sufficient slack, and again make sure the fiber’s connection to the focus head avoids exceeding the minimum bend radius.
